Hamnet
15 December 2023
Clever production. Minimal scenery but beautifully positioned and the scene changes were easily and swiftly managed. I loved the little touches such as the way in which the 'appearance' of Anne's children after birth was managed. The play was, I think, easier to follow if you have read the book (my friend hadn't) - and the only bit that was a something of a disappointment to me was the final scene where I felt a bit underwhelmed.

Brilliant adaptation that brings to life the book and reveals powerful motivations for the Bard's reflections on life love and death

Followed the script but lacked the emotion
10 November 2023
Maggie O’Farrell’s book Hamnet is well researched with multiple layers of emotion, giving the story of an apparently simple country girl and a well educated young man.. The play followed the script well but failed, in the first half to provide any convincing passion or depth. The second half was more ch better, covered more of the text and offered some moving scenes. Overall I felt the cast lacked compassion, leaving the performance a little flat and lacking in depth

Boring
25 October 2023
Very dull, nothing happens. Apparently you get more our of it if you‘ve read the book. Not at all worth the ticket price. So much other good stuff to see in london. Real disappointment
